Experience:

• October 2008 - present, Principal Systems Engineer, Cimation LLC, Metairie, LA. Built cross-compiler toolchains to port Java applications to embedded devices. Developed combined tag database for offshore production facility which combined subsea, virtual flow metering system, topsides instruments and Wonderware HMI tag list to synchronize configurations of multiple OPC servers and remote process data historians. Performed cyber-security audits of offshore facilities. Installed and maintained several VMware servers and guests running both Windows and Linux. Configured and maintained Cisco ASA firewalls and HP Procurve switches.

• March 2006 - September 2008, Principal Systems Engineer, Monsanto, Luling, LA. Worked on several global teams to develop and implement information security standards for manufacturing, database, and server systems. Primary author of the Process Control System standard.   Worked with South American sites to add multi-language support for web applications developed over the last several years. Developed and gave training for locally developed applications, and provided support to other plant sites for deploying applications and implementing corporate security standards.

• September 1997 - February 2006, Senior Systems Engineer, Monsanto, Luling, LA. Designed, deployed, and maintained Oracle and InfoPlus.21 databases for a large-scale chemical manufacturing plant. Planned and performed installations and upgrades of DeltaV and AMS software, controllers and I/O cards, network copper and fiber hardware, Windows NT domain controllers and trusts, and Windows 2000/2003 Active Directory domain controllers and trusts. Participated in software beta tests of InfoPlus.21, DeltaV, and POC. Configured TCP/IP networks for POC and OWP. Developed and wrote web applications using PL/SQL and ASP for Oracle RDBMS, InfoPlus.21, and Apache Web Server to report permit compliance and batch production. Was awarded Luling Plant Employee of the Year for 1999 for some of this work. Responsible for integrating the following information and control systems:

Developed and maintained databases in Oracle and CIM/21 for a waste remediation project. Maintained a secure network using a firewall to protect sensitive nuclear data from unauthorized access. Maintained Unix servers supporting databases, and NetWare file and print servers. Responsible for integrating the following information systems:

• June 1995 - April 1996, Graduate Research Assistant, Idaho State University, Pocatello, ID. Performed computer simulations of nuclear criticality benchmark experiments in several modeling languages in support of the International Criticality Safety Benchmark Evaluation Project, including:
  • KENO and SCALE, using END-F/V and Hanson-Roach cross-section libraries
  • MCNP, using END-F/V cross-section libraries
  • ONEDANT, TWODANT, and SCALE, using END-F/V cross-section libraries
  Part of this research was presented at the 1996 Summer ANS conference, and published in the American Nuclear Society Transactions Volume 74.

• October 1994 - June 1995, Engineering Intern, J. R. Simplot Company, Pocatello, ID. Designed, programmed, and directed installation of a Modicon programmable logic controller system, which required integrating the following:

  • 15-MWe General Electric turbine generator (co-gen facility)

• August 1991 - May 1995, Full-time engineering student at Idaho State University.

• January 1985 - June 1991, Russian Cryptologic Linguist, United States Marine Corps. Held Top-Secret clearance during this time. Developed and implemented training programs for equipment and techniques used to perform our missions, including field exercises and overseas deployments, for units of up to 100 Marines. • Navy Achievement Medal, 1987, for writing four separate database programs to support the duties of the cryptologic administration department while stationed overseas, and for developing a relational database system which helped to reduce mission manpower requirements by over 70%.
